Awards Round Up: How the West was Won
Mountainfilm wrapped in Colorado this past week; the Portrait community was there in full force. Congratulations to:
Nina & Irena: Best Short Film. Daniel Lombroso, director/producer; Devon Blackwell, producer; Gil Talmi, composer.
The Herricanes: Women in Film Award. Olivia Kuan, Director; Fletcher Wolfe, DP
Bad Press: Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary Feature. Tyler Graim, DP.
Between Earth and Sky also held a great workshop, “The Generative Power of Disturbance.” Joe Van Eeckhout, DP.
Meanwhile, in LA, N-Men: The Untold Story was nominated for Best Picture and won Best Director at the LA Independent Film Festival. Dean Gonzalez, Editor.

New Work Alert: Looking at the Lives We Lead
Lonely Lives: Jackie Lay directed and animated the wonderful short above on loneliness and the power of connection for the Royal Society for Arts.
Extreme Lives: Juan Castaneda and the team at Human Pictures are working on the series ExtremeLives for the United Nations Development Programme, following incredible young people as they rise above hardship and display extraordinary talents.
A Life and Legacy Reexamined: Great Photo, Lovely Life screened at Harrisburg Artsfest. According to director Amanda Mustard, the event was a “special hometown festival screening, a first time for folks in the film to attend” Rachel Beth Anderson, Co-Director/DP.
